Google Makes Monsarrat a Developer Partner for AR Glasses
September 2, 2026 – Google has invited Monsarrat, a video game maker, to become an early developer on Android XR for the XREAL Project Aura AR glasses. This makes Monsarrat one of the few companies in the world to develop on this new platform before it’s released.
Monsarrat already has a phone version of its game, Landing Party, which is the world’s first outdoor roleplaying game. Press at Augmented World Expo, the world’s largest augmented reality tradeshow, raved about the game, calling it “best of the show” and “surprisingly immersive”. One unpaid major influencer even said, “There’s nothing that I’ve seen in the last two days of being here [at the conference], except this, that would make me want to get a pair of AR glasses. There’s nothing on the market like it.”
Google is now considering partnership help for Monsarrat and allowing Landing Party on the Google Play store for Project Aura. Landing Party could be a killer app to sell AR glasses because:
- Their ads are static. Advertisements to sell any kind of AR glasses look static, uninteresting, with users just sitting. Monsarrat would show happy players walking around laughing.
- They compete with TV monitors. Why should customers buy XREAL AR glasses just to sit on a couch doing what they can already do on a TV / monitor? But with our game, players walk outside, where there’s no monitor. That’s makes Monsarrat a giant reason to actually buy XREAL AR glasses.
In Landing Party, Monsarrat’s 8 patents lay an AR fantasy world across a real-world space outdoors, which users walk through to play. My game was praised by Jenna Seiden (former Pokemon Go exec) and Charlie Fink (Forbes) as the successor to Pokémon Go in outdoor video games.
